Townapps and Town Guide Apps, two leading providers of mobile apps for towns and local communities in Ireland and the UK, join forces with the intention of providing customers with world-class local mobile app solutions.

The acquisition of Town Guide Apps – subsidiary of Tutor Pro Ltd., a leading e-Learning technology solutions company in the UK now makes Townapps the forerunner in app development for towns and local communities, enhancing an increasing app portfolio of 85 app locations across 4 countries.

From 2012 to 2014 Townapps.ie established itself as the leading provider of smartphone apps for Towns and local communities in Ireland – providing locals and visitors with up to date information and deals that increases time and money spent locally.

Having proven the model in Ireland, Townapps also had the UK in its sights and worked with the leading supplier in this field, Town Guide Apps, collaborating with them as partners in both development and marketing of the apps since 2013. An opportunity arose in late 2014 for Townapps to enter negotiations with Town Guide Apps for taking complete control over the 24 town apps in UK and 10 town apps in Ireland.

To support the move a developer team was recruited and setup in Athlone commencing in January 2015 with a focus on redevelopment of the look and feel and taking on board user feedback to enhance the user experience of the apps. The redesigned Townapps platform was launched in June 2015 and is being rolled out across the existing customer base over the next few months.

With the integration of Town Guide Apps into Townapps just completed, Townapps are now in the process of facilitating the existing loyal UK customer base with the enhanced facilities on offer. The UK customer base now benefit from new add ons including Local News, Whats On, better in app Search, Local Weather as well as operating on a faster 64 bit code. Combining the strengths of Townapps and Town Guide Apps will provide customers with access to an enhanced product and services within the Townapp turn-key app solution. Townapps offers a complete service for local towns and communities of building their unique app on both the Apple and Android platforms, working with local community to deliver initial content, news, events and special offers and training the local app partner on how to maintain and grow their Town Apps content. Each app is supported with the digital marketing expertise of the Townapp team together with the support and development team based at Townapps headquarters in Ireland.

Townapps is moving globally and in June launched 46 apps across North America – both U.S.A. and Canada. The combined portfolio of local town apps now on offer includes 85 locations across four countries.
